With our Junior Field Gun Sport Initiative we encourage & support all forms of field gun competition within community particularly with Schools, Scouting & youth groups. We are presently making & producing wooden mini field guns & limbers with walls for use in inter competitions for these groups which, will be used by Scout Cubs in their Annual Field Gun Competitions. Primary & junior schools in Plymouth, have shown very keen interest in this competitive sport, which is a different, and new, form of ‘team’ sport from their usual physical training curriculum.  The Devonport Field Gun Association received over £50,000 from the Plymouth Armed Forces Community Covenant to further their vision of a schools and Cub Scouts Field Gun Tournament which they hope to hold annually. The Community Covenant has awarded the Association the grant to help accelerate the production of small field guns suitable for children and young people to use in competition with each other, in the spirit of the military field gun tournaments. Former Sailors Take Gun Run Around Plymouth

 

Pennycross Primary School & their Trainer/Teacher, Mr Lee Hogden, are now proud holders of all 2016 Trophies which they won at the Junior Field Gun Tournament during Armed Forces Weekend at Plymouth Hoe.
